This bundle contains a series of 3 completely original, engaging and thought-provoking collective worship sessions aiming to build children’s understanding of St. Peter. Each session focuses on a different aspect of Peter’s life: Jesus Calls Peter The Denial of Peter The Restoration of Peter Each worship session follows a colourful and comprehensive PowerPoint presentation which guide the worship leader and the children through the worship journey, including opportunities for recall, engagement with scripture, drama-based activities (session 2 contains an original script), videos (hyperlinked), hymns and prayer. Towards the end of each session, children are encouraged to reflect on their own personal spirituality, in response to deep and relevant discussion questions. This worship sessions are tried and tested, and have always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. If everything is kept in each session, they take around 30 minutes each to deliver, but you may choose to edit or amend some elements of the session. This engaging and original assembly/ collective worship session aims to provide children with an understanding of the Saint Peter, particularly focusing on his him denying being an acquaintance of Jesus. It was originally delivered as the third in a series of three collective worship sessions on Saint Peter. The aims of the session are to consider: -The events of the Resurrection and Peter’s Restoration; -Peter’s role in spreading Christianity; -Lessons that we can apply to our own lives. The colourful and comprehensive presentation guides the worship leader and the children through the following journey: -Recalling prior knowledge about Saint Peter and establishing the basic information about who he was/ what he is known for; -Recalling how Peter had denied his acquaintance with Jesus; -Watching and comprehending an engaging, age-appropriate video (hyperlinked) which details Jesus’ resurrection and appearance to Peter; -Considering how Peter worked to redeem himself after Jesus had ascended to heaven; -Reflecting on our own spirituality - thinking about times when we let people down - how can we redeem ourselves? -Participating in related song and prayer. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. The Final Days of Jesus' Life - Whole Class Reading Session!

This whole class reading session aims to develop children’s fluency and comprehension skills through reading about the final days of Jesus’ life. The non-fiction text that they read is adapted from a BBC Bitesize article about Jesus’ last days. The reading is followed by a series of activities aiming to develop children’s VIPERS skills: vocabulary, inference, prediction, explanation, retrieval, sequencing and summarising. It also contains a vocabulary check immediately after the extract is read to clarify any unfamiliar/ difficult language. The tasks are comprised of quick-check questions, solo thinking, pair/ group discussions and deeper thinking activities. The text to read is provided in both PDF and Word format. The session is best suited for children in upper KS2, however it could easily be used with KS3 students and could feasibly be utilised with slightly younger children, depending upon the individual context of your class.

This original and purposeful collective worship session aims to teach children about the meaning of advent. -Understanding what advent is and when it is celebrated; -Understanding different symbols and rituals of advent, for example advent wreaths and christingles, aided by an informative video; -Learning that there are different types of ‘waiting’, and that some types of waiting are more difficult than others, through an interactive task; -Understanding that Christians also view advent as a time to reflect on the ‘waiting’ of Jesus’ return; -Reflecting on what has been learnt through the session; -Ending with a prayer and a hymn about leadership. This worship is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. It is comprehensive (20 slides in total) and the slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. No further resources are required except a beanbag or small ball for the challenge activity - everything else that you need to present the worship is included.

This purposeful and original collective worship session aims to assist children in understanding the value of effective teamwork, through: -Understanding what teamwork is and recognising why it is important (with the help of a funny, purposeful video, which is hyperlinked into the presentation); -Learning what the Bible teaches about teamwork, and how we can apply these ideas to our own lives; -Looking at everyday activities and considering which require effective teamwork skills; -Demonstrating the power of teamwork through an engaging and powerful ‘hula hoop challenge’ game; -Understanding how and why teamwork can be important in school, and thinking about how they would use teamwork in different scenarios; -Finding out about how teamwork has contributed to some of humankind’s greatest achievements; -Ending with a prayer and a song about using our individual talents as a part of a team. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. It is comprehensive (27 slides in total) and the slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. For example, there are references to scenarios and dilemmas that they themselves might find themselves in order to help them to make the right choices in their own lives. No further resources are required except a single hoop for the challenge activity - everything else that you need to present the worship is included. The assembly presentation is fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included guidance notes to assist the speaker just in case. Hope that you find this useful!

This series of three fun and original collective worship sessions has been designed to develop children’s understanding of the value of wisdom. Each session focuses on a different feature of ‘being wise’: Seeking Help Dealing with Hazards Collaborating Each session follows a similar structure for developing children’s knowledge and understanding: -Gathering: bringing the worship together, thinking about the key themes and vocabulary; -Engaging: Using a variety of strategies to engage the children in the main idea, before linking the theme to different stories and quotes from the Bible (with a range of discussion opportunities); -Reflecting: Relating the key ideas to a modern context and the lives of the children, thinking about what has been learnt and can be applied; -Sending: Opportunities for linked song and prayer. It was delivered as a part of a series of three worship sessions on wisdom (available as a bundle), but works equally well as a standalone worship session. This is achieved through: -Recalling the definition of wisdom and thinking about how we can show the characteristics of being wise; -Thinking about what the word ‘hazard’ means and discussing what we know about hazards; -Watching a video of a reading of Psalms 23 (hyperlinked) and discussing the literal and figurative meanings of the Lord being our ‘shepherd’ and helping us to stay safe in the face of dangers; -Relating these teachings to the modern world - discussing how we can overcome the hazards that we face in our own lives (through the ideas of preventing, avoiding and overcoming); -Singing a hymn relating to the Lord guiding us through life, before reflecting through prayer. This fun and original collective worship aids children in understanding the value of wisdom. In this session, a particular focus is placed on defining wisdom and understanding that wisdom sometimes means seeking support from others, to help us to make wise choices. This is achieved through: -Defining wisdom and thinking about how we can show the characteristics of being wise; -Identifying times in which we might need to seek support; -Reading and understanding a child-friendly reading of 1 Kings 3:3–15; 2 Chronicles 1:1–13 in which KIng Solomon asks God for wisdom; -Analysing a bible quote from proverbs about the value of seeking advice; -Relating these teachings to the lives of the children - considering how they can seek support both in their learning and at break/ lunchtimes (without relying too much on their teachers/ adults!); -Singing a hymn relating to seeking support and reflecting through prayer. The session includes a comprehensive, engaging PowerPoint presentation, a hyperlink to the necessary hymn, and both a PDF and Word copy of the script for the fable. There are also various discussion prompts to enable children to consider how wisdom and seeking support can aid us throughout our lives. This resource pack contains all of the presentations, worksheets and activities needed to teach an engaging and progressive 6-week enquiry-led RE unit of learning. This unit aims to equip children with the knowledge and skills needed to answer the big question: ‘What is the Holy Trinity?’ The unit is broken down into 6 sessions: Three Persons in One God; God the Father part 1 - Creation and the Old Testament; God the Father part 2 - The Ten Commandments; God the Son - The Baptism of Jesus Christ; God the Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit is sent after the Death of Jesus; Assessment Lesson (assessment provided). All of the resources are provided to teach each lesson (in the past we have taught them as double lessons and spread into 12 separate sessions) and each presentation contains key questions through the 3 lenses of theology, philosophy and human/social sciences. Worksheets are provided in both Word (to allow editing) and PDF (to protect formatting). Each session contains knowledge recall based on learning from prior in the unit, a range of worksheet/ video/ creative resources to enhance engagement and a return to the enquiry question in the reflection section of the lesson. These resources are tried and tested and best suited to children in years 3 and 4. They are aligned with the age-related expectations used by the vast majority of regions/ diocese boards. When downloaded, the resources will be open in the download and also copied within the zip file.

In these engaging and informative lessons, children are gradually introduced to the story of the life of Moses. The lessons included are: -Slavery and Liberty in Egypt; -Moses’ Early Life; -Moses and the Burning Bush; -The Ten Plagues of Egypt; -The Parting of the Red Sea. Each lesson contains a comprehensive Powerpoint presentation and all of the activity resources that you need to teach the lesson. Each lesson contains opportunities for children to build their knowledge of this important historical character and the religion of Judaism, whilst also developing their own personal spirituality. In the past, I have used these lessons with children from across Key Stage 2 - the key learning is aligned with curriculum expectations for RE, and also the content prescribed by most diocese regions. This fun and original collective worship session aims to guide children towards building their knowledge of Mary, mother of Jesus, through: -Gathering what they already know about Mary; -Learning about the annunciation of Mary, through reading an engaging and thought-provoking script; -Answering comprehension questions based on the ideas and events of the annunciation; -Considering Mary’s response and actions after learning that she would be the mother of Jesus; -Studying examples of Mary’s devotion and love towards Jesus, through engagement with religious artworks and Bible quotations; -Discussing the Christian values that Mary demonstrated throughout her life; -Singing a hymn about the Mother Mary (hyperlinked); -Closing with a prayer related to the Mother Mary. The session includes a 16-slide presentation, the script for the ‘anunciation’ section (in both Word and PDF) and the hyperlink to the hymn. No further resources are required, everything that you need to present the assembly is included. This assembly was originally delivered to all of the children in a primary school (KS1 and KS2), although with suitable adaptations it could also be suitable for students in KS3.
